Murray High School students cheer on X Games athletes in the 17th annual ASA Entertainment Action Sports World tour, which was hosted at their school Sept. 23. In addition to learning about these world-class skateboarders, bikers and in-line skaters, including Trevor Meyer, Coco Zarita and Eito Yasutoko, and watching them perform for about 30 minutes, the tour also educates students about bullying, whether physical, verbal, cyber or psychological. The emcee rattled off facts, such as 90 percent of students on social media see cyberbullying, but only half report it; and one out of 10 students who drop out of school do so because of repeated bullying. He also told students to walk away from the situation calmly, tell a trusted adult and remove themselves from the situation. Sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps, the ASA high school tour is in its 13-week fall circuit of demonstrations at schools across the country. Since 2000, the ASA tour has reached more than 1,500 schools.
