Sounds of Summer Free Friday Concert: Buzzard Whiskey

The “Sounds of Summer Free Friday Concert Series” begins June 8 and goes to August 3. The concerts are in the Midvale City Park Amphitheater, 455 W 7500 S. with lawn seating—bring lawn chairs and blankets. The evening begins at 6:30 pm with free family friendly games, contests with prizes, and activities including free face painting, chalk and bubble fun, and the park’s splash pad. The concert begins at 7:00 pm following the activities.

Buzzard Whiskey is made up of Amy Quigley, Travis Potter, David Lane, Kim Corea, Richard Coleman, and Stephen Smith. David Lane is an unapologetic folkie who fell in love with Peter, Paul and Mary in front of his parent’s hi-fi. By the time high school rolled around he was trying to mimic Gordon Lightfoot’s “Carefree Highway” while his peers were enjoying AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell”. Buzzard Whiskey was born in the South Valley Unitarian Universalist Society when five choir members and acoustic pop enthusiasts began to put David's poems to music. In 2015 Buzzard Whiskey released their first album called 51. A follow-up album is due out in late 2018.

"Buzzard Whiskey is a refreshing taste of acoustic pop/folk music. Original songs mixed up with some classics, presented with thoughtful harmonies and solid musicianship. Buzzard Whiskey is a band to check out!" Todd Schultz, Intermountain Acoustic Music Association President
