Nine youth musicals to be produced in Murray

Under the direction of Murray City Cultural Arts and a strong group of community directors, nine youth musicals featuring elementary age youth will be directed in Murray during the fall and winter months.

Thanks to support from Salt Lake County ZAP funding and local elementary schools who will provide rehearsal and performance space for the productions, the first musical, “Babes in Toyland,” is tentatively set for Dec. 13-15 at Longview Elementary School.  

Auditions for all youth musicals are limited to Murray residents or children attending Murray public schools. Ages for each production will vary depending on the type of production and casting requirements. Auditions for “Babes in Toyland” for grades K-6 are tentatively set on Sept. 12 and 13 between 3:45 and 5 p.m. at Longview Elementary. Finalized times will be posted on the Murray website.  Children should be prepared to recite a nursery rhyme, sing a song of their choice with or without accompaniment, and be prepared to learn a simple dance routine.
