Murray election results finalized

The Salt Lake County Clerk’s office finalized results from Murray’s municipal election. Official canvassing of votes cast in three city council races was released on Nov. 22.

In the closest race in Salt Lake County, the District 1 seat went to David Nicponski, who received 471 votes (50.32 percent of those cast) to challenger Phil Markham’s 465 (49.68 percent). There were no write-in votes (see separate story about this race). Incumbent Jeff Dredge did not seek re-election.

Voters in District 5 elected challenger Brett Hales over incumbent Krista Dunn. Hales received 867 votes (54.05 percent) to Dunn’s 737 (45.95 percent). There were no write-in votes cast.

Incumbent Jim Brass ran unopposed in District 3, receiving 626 votes. There were 19 write-in votes in this race.

All council members will take oaths of office in January.
