Brass will lead Murray council for another year
A new year brings a few changes to the administration of Murray City. Two new council members were sworn in and began their first terms serving the city.
David Nicponski (District 1) and Brett Hales (District 5) took their place on the council during the first meeting of the new year. They join Jim Brass (District 3), who ran unopposed during the fall election, along with fellow incumbents Jared Shaver (District 4) and Darren Stam (District 2).
Brass was re-elected to the position of council chairperson for this year, with Shaver selected to serve as vice-chair. Shaver will also serve as chair of the budget and finance committee for the second year in a row, with Hales working with him as vice-chair. Nicponski was elected to serve as a member of the Association of Municipal Councils Board.
In addition, Murray Mayor Dan Snarr appointed representatives to the Boards of Interlocal Entities. Jan Wells will work with UTOPIA; Stam will serve with the Utah Infrastructure Agency; Nicponski was appointed to the Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center board; Russ Kalaka will represent Murray on the TransJordan Cities Board; Brass will be the representative to the Central Valley Reclamation Facility Board; and Blaine Haacke will serve on the Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems board.
