About 240 Liberty students tied their shoes and took to the pavement around their elementary school for the fun of running.

“We chose not to have it be a fundraiser, but as a time the kids, family and community could enjoy the time together and celebrate each other,” Principal Shana Mondragon said, who along with teacher Aimee Ballard ran along with each grade.

Led by Murray Police, first- through sixth-grade students ran 1 mile and kindergartners ran half of 1 mile, in T-shirts designed by sixth-grader Nathan Pape.

Afterward, they celebrated the end of the school year with a dance party and Creamies.
